Mall Rats Stomped In Season Opener
(Olympia, WA) - The Capitol Mall Rats could not stop runningback Shaun Alexander or wide receiver Chris Chambers as the OTHG easily defeat the Mall Rats 115-77. Chambers led the way with 24 points while Alexander scored 24.
The Mall Rats were led by the Seahawks defense's 17 points while WR Chad Johnson led the way for positiion players scoring 15. Second round draft pick WR Marvin Harrison was held to only four points.
"Our best players didn't step up this week," commented Brandon Sparks on his weekly radio show. "Neither Donovan or Marvin had good games. What is encouraging is that we saw what some of the other guys can do. If we can get them all on one page at the same time, we could be very dangerous."
Changes have already been made to the Mall Rats lineup. Freddie Jones will replace Billy Miller at tight end, while the Browns defense get the start against Money.
"It's simply a case of playing the matchups. Billy is a bit hurt and the Browns are facing a weeker team," said Sparks.
The Mall Rats hit the road this weekend taking on WR Randy Moss and RB Ladanian Tomlinson's Money. Money were week one winners knocking off the Sissyboys2 93-66. Don't forget to visit capitolmallrats.iwarp.com for all of your Mall Rats information throughout the 2003 season.
